Memes aside, how’s this for a collector’s item ;)

Before I was in 2nd grade, my parents would be the ones to choose out games for me. And for the most part, those games were not well-known or classics remembered today + they were often geared toward little kids. It definitely led to an interesting collection that I still have today…one that includes this Game Boy cartridge I got when visiting family in Malaysia.

This baby’s got 34 Game Boy (Color) games all bundled together (although it might be a little more or less in actuality, I don't remember). It barely featured the games people tend to think of when they think “Game Boy” today. Instead, there was a big mix of retro game ports, games based on movies/TV shows and consumer products, and obscure titles that should maybe be preserved digitally for historical value’s sake even if some aren’t very good??? Gaming icons featured include Ronald McDonald, Cool Spot the 7-Up mascot, Ranma of Ranma 1/2, a Tarzan that is not the Disney version….you get the picture.

The exception to this was Super Mario Land, which is still the only Mario game I’ve ever owned and really played a decent amount of. Where’s the love for World 1-1 EGYPT VERSION!?!?

Also, I guess the fact that it had Heiankyo Alien is pretty notable too. I never beat these or any of the other games on the cartridge, but I look back fondly at all of them for helping to “raise” me as a gamer and shaping my tastes so I knew what games I enjoy and don’t.

PS: I have some more “classics” from my “interesting collection” that’ll blow yer mind…but those will be saved for another day.
