Love & Fighting Games - Part 2

Content originally posted to Instagram on September 30, 2021. I decided to make this a second part to another fighting game post I wrote awhile back since they touch on similar feelings.

I’m a bit of a romantic…for fighting games 😏

I’ve had fun with a number of fighting games. I play them for a few weeks on average before moving on, and I’m pretty satisfied with my time spent. Sometimes, I even revisit them. But I always think it’d be nice to have that special relationship with a fighting game, the kind that inspires a steadily lit passion to play it even as countless months (and maybe years) roll by.

I wonder if Melty Blood: Type Lumina, a fighting game based on the remake of visual novel Tsukihime, will be that game for me. On first impression, this game has quite a bit of depth to it, whether we’re talking gameplay mechanics or single-player content. And while it all feels kinda overwhelming so far (Melty Blood has been a fighting game series that's existed since 2002, and this is my first experience with it), I’ll try my best to learn 👍 I’m also really enjoying what I’ve heard from the soundtrack, and I genuinely find the characters, world, and lore appealing.

Still, I’m trying to stay a little bit cautious about my excitement — I guess I’m wary of the possibility that it’ll just be another fighting game I play for a bit. Regardless of how my relationship with the game pans out though, I’m happy enough being able to finally try a Melty Blood game when I couldn’t before!
